I got an iPod Nano for Christmas, and I love it! I love music; it is one of my most favorite things. I can now pick up my favorite radio station at work, and I put many of my compact disks on this tiny device. If I am having a frustrating day at work, which seems to happen frequently, I slip in my earphones and put on some Mozart, and workplace distractions ease. It is impossible to listen to music you love, whatever that is, and not feel happy at some level.
But I will not be running or walking with my iPod. I think it would be too distracting and too dangerous. It is a tough world out there for pedestrians in an auto-crazed world. If I am running with others, it is more fun to chat. If I am by myself, which is the usual mode of my workouts, I want to pay full attention to my surroundings. What do you think? Time for a new poll. Please vote!

Hi Art....I agree with you on that. I would not use an ipod as a pedestrian......way toooo dangerous......
I have to admit Art, I do run with my ipod on when I am alone, which is NOT often at all. I am very cautious about running in my neighborhood when I have it on and am extra careful, using my eyes all the time.
Stay on sidewalks, turn and look before you take even one step off a curb or around a parked car and of course when crossing the street. You can also keep it turned down so you can still hear your surroundings.
For me, this is infrequent but you have to do whatever you are comfortable with.
no ipods allowed at TNT trainings!
I do use my iPod occasionally, but I keep it turned down low enough that I can hear vehicles. And I found music with varying beats was too hard to keep a consistent pace, so I usually listen to "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me." Imagine how people look at me as I walk down the road laughing. :)
